About Me

Hello everyone and welcome to my Beer 365 Project! Here I will enjoy and review a beer every day for a year. You can look forward to reviews of many different beers, brewery trips, and more!

Day 010/365: Unibroue Don De Dieu

Brewery: Unibroue
Style: Don De Dieu (Triple Wheat Ale)
Origin: Chambly, Canada

Overall: A

It turns out that Canada produces a delicious Belgian Style Ale through the means of the Unibroue Don De Diue. This mellow triple wheat ale is smooth and drinkable with a good complexity without being too much. This is by far the most affordable high ABV Belgian style I have found and would definitely pick up a four pack to bring to a gathering.

Day 009/365: RJ Rockers Son of a Peach

Brewery: RJ Rockers
Style: Son of a Peach (Peach Wheat Ale)
Origin: Spartansburg, SC

Overall: C+

I cracked open this brew and was excited by the delightful aroma wafting out of the bottle. Unfortunately the taste was not a good second act to the fantastic smell of fresh peaches, clove and honey. This beer would be a great seasonal brew if the peach flavor made an appearance. There is almost no hint of peach to go along with its' intoxicating smell.

Day 008/365: Breckenridge Brewery Vanilla Porter

Brewery: Breckenridge Brewery
Style: Vanilla Porter (Ale Infused/Brewed with Vanilla Bean)
Origin: Breckenridge, CO

Overall: B+

I am starting to find that Colorado has a lot of great breweries. I never check the origin of my beers as I want to keep it random and so far three have been from the Rocky Mountain State. This beer continues the trend in good Colorado Beers. It has a mesmerizing aroma and creamy mellow flavor. I am a big fan of anything made with fresh vanilla and more beers should utilize their flavor. More stouts and porters could benefit from the added smoothness vanilla provides.

Day 007/365: Red Stripe Jamaican Lager - Featuring a Guest Reviewer!

Brewery: Red Stripe
Style: Jamaican Lager
Origin: Jamaica

Overall: B

I would love to welcome a guest second opinion today, my father, Joe! As for my opinion, Red Stripe is far from unique. An unmistakably traditional lager, this brew is easy drinking and light. Not my favorite, but good for what it was meant to be. Read on for more on the beer by me and my guest!

Day 006/365: Left Hand Brewing Co. - Good Juju

Brewery:  Left Hand Brewing Co.
Style: Good Juju (Ale Brewed with Ginger)
Origin: Longmont, Colorado

Overall: C+

Drawn in by the name of a well known brewery and interesting label. The Left Hand Brewing Co.'s Good Juju brew failed to impress. It started out well with a pleasant sweet aroma but disappoints on flavor. I was happy with the ginger flavor, unhappy with the chemical like bitterness and aftertaste. Fans of hoppy beers will like this brew, I on the other hand, enjoy smoother finishes.

Day 005/365: Leffe Blond

Brewery: Leffe
Syle:  Blond (Blonde)
Origin: Belgium

Overall: B+

A great classic Belgian Ale. I would not call it unique or extraordinary, but that does not mean you should just pass it by. Delightful notes of citrus and honey along with a creamy texture and thick head make this a great daily drinker.

Day 004/365: Oskar Blues Brewery Mama's Little Yella Pils

Brewery: Oskar Blues Brewery (Colorado)
Style: Mama's Little Yella Pils (Czech Style Pilsner)

Overall: B

I was browsing the beer aisle at my local Total Wine when this brew caught my eye. Made in Colorado and marked as a Czech style pilsner I said, “Why not?”. I am glad decided to pick this beer up. I am not a huge fan of beers flavored with a lot of hops but this brew is refreshing with delightful citrus notes. Never again will I look at a canned beer and assume that it is not just as good as it's bottled brethren.
